Relentless rain and thunderstorms forced the second T20I between Bangladesh national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team to be abandoned without a ball bowled in Chattogram.
The covers never came off as severe weather battered the port city throughout the day. Umpires officially called off the match at 4:15 pm local time well before the cut-off—without any on-field action. Parts of the city have also been hit by flooding after days of continuous rain.
Both teams made it to the ground, with some players managing light indoor practice, but conditions made play impossible.
With the washout, Bangladesh retain a 1-0 lead in the three-match series following their six-wicket win in the opener. The teams now travel to Dhaka for the निर्णding third T20I on May 2, though more rain is forecast.
In the first match, New Zealand posted 182/6, powered by half-centuries from Katene Clarke and Dane Cleaver. Bangladesh responded strongly, recovering from 77/3 thanks to Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, and Parvez Hossain Emon to seal their highest successful T20I chase at home.
Following the series, Bangladesh face a quick turnaround with a Test series against Pakistan national cricket team starting May 8.
